treasure in the trash!

today, while zipping through the side streets in town, my eyes spotted this banged up old trellis, in some ones garbage! putting the car in reverse, i backed up and asked the owner if it was trash? yes! and you can have it! trying not to let him see me hyper-ventilate... i shoved it in the back of my trailblazer. i need to paint the top board white... other then that... it is a fine piece of shabby chic garden art!
so..... have you ever in your life stopped off and pulled something out of some one garbage? if so... let me know in my comments! (i've also pulled two old bushel baskets from some one's garbage.... great for my garden!)

Absolutely :). One man's trash is another man's treasure, right?

Can't tell you how many things I have pulled from the curbside trash (not a daily thing, but have gotten some great stuff over the years). I have a wonderful turquoise ladder in my backyard that was free last year. Just leans against the garage and holds a collection of old watering cans. Good find!

Oh my yes! Vintage metal double yard chair for the pond I also got on the side of the road. Bar stools. Gazebo I turned into two garden arches. Radio flyer bike with broken spokes on front wheel-bought new tire for 8.00 (no shipping) and gave it to foster children. Little Tykes toy box/book case I cleaned up for same children. Rick of firewood. Exercise rower. Wooden childs stove and much more.
