yesterday, i enjoyed making my own homemade hodge-podge of christmas pot-porri. i plan to give a quart jar, to the ladies in my family... at our family christmas party!
let me tell you... i had the best fun finding treasures in my nature box, backyard, spice rack and pantry! i called it mrs. claus's christmas pot-porri and attached a note that say's keep refrigerated-until ready to use. use a cupful at a time and simmer.
whole cloves, a cinnamon stick or two, several drops of orange extract, pineapple skins and leaves, pinecones, chestnuts in the shell, osage oranges cut up, a handful of acorns, a piece of clementine and the skins, a splash of ground cinnamon, red glitter, and broken pieces of honeycomb! then i filled it to the rim with water.
as you can see, i didn't top my jars with fabric. for me personally, i think that look is rather outdated.
sometimes, less is more. smile, wink, nod.

That potpourri is gorgeous! I'm ashamed to admit that I've never tried simmering potpourri. Dry potpourri always loses it's potency, so can I just put the dry stuff in water and simmer it? Let me know what you think!
Looks beatiful, Michele! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
Love,
Lynn
