just a dime, a new book and a close call!

today, i found this collection of really vintage, shabby chic, banged up pot holders at an estate sale. they were a dime each. oh, how i love them. i wish they could talk to me and give me some good old fashioned recipes!

i felt quite like magpie ethel today.. you can find her fantastic blog on my sidebar. she is wild about estate sales and finds some really unique things.


last night, i started an awesome new historical fiction! it's called, plain language. it's about the dirty 30's and the depression. i know so very little about the dust bowl and that historical era. it is just a feel good book!

prayers work. my mom is traveling home from vermont today. she went with friends on a bus trip to a primitive rug hooking school. late this afternoon, i had this strange feeling that i should say a quick prayer for her safe travel home. just had this feeling. an hour later she called and said the bus they were traveling in blew out a front tire... when that happens, the driver looses control, which happened. a pick up was nearby and "almost" got it. all are fine... the bus stopped at a local tim hortons and they're waiting for the tire to be fixed. exhale.

have a happy saturday night, and i'll see you tomorrow. smile, wink, nod.

furniture decorating and meme!

In my last post, I mentioned I had spent some time on Mother's Day painting a table I found for $1. At a garage sale. This is how it's turned out....so far! I think I need to dot the inside of the daisy. And, the legs need a little more life as well. But... I knew you just couldn't wait any longer to see this, so here it is! I do not plan to keep it in the main part of the house... it will go in my basement laundry area.

Did you get a newspaper on Sunday? If so, there is a coupon in one of the coupon flyers/booklets that has Kraft salad dressing for $1.50 off a bottle. Take it in to Kroger's, this week, because they're running a sale on it for $1.58. You pay .08 cents for it. I bought a bottle of the Tomato Vinegarette.... great for marinating chicken on the grill!

11. Who or what makes you laugh until you're week? My cousin Jeff and my cousin Cathy. Although, when my dad was alive.... he could make me laugh until my stomach hurt and tears streamed down my face...ALL THE TIME! I miss it!

13. What is the best thing you ate or drank lately? Arby's FREE fruity Mandarin Peach tea and homemade chocolate zucchini bread with white chocolate chips!

Our young friend Marla (who frequents this blog) and is in our homeschool co-op... she had a pacemaker put in yesterday and is doing fine. I understand the surgery was uneventful and she may be coming home today!

To one of my bestest friends... Rhonda. Who will be undergoing a hysterectomy today at 4 p.m. Please pray for her, her family and the medical team. And, that she will be in her garden very soon!
