thrift shopping on saturday!

on saturday, my mom and i went thrift shopping!

the salvation armies in our neck of the woods,

were offering 1/2 off on all clothing! since i'm

trying to drive my wardrobe into more skirts

and shabby dresses... this was a good day to

scoop up the deals!

here's my ridiculously cheap deals:

turquoise tommy hilfiger skirt $1.49
banana republic skirt $1.49 (and it's lined)
vintage glittered purse with serious rhinestone enclosure $2.
vintage sewing basket in shabby turquoise... super clean condition $4.
old with age cracks floral water pitcher... so old i can't read the name on the bottom! $3.

yesterday, i was invited to work for my cousin robin. she sells amazingly serious bling jewelry and accessories! her company is called, cowgirlz closet... which will be launching it's website in early 2010. watch here for details....

yesterday, was her christmas open house. above: these are just a couple of tables of her inventory....she has tons of it!

in december, we'll be packing up and hitting the road in lansing for a couple of cowboy christmas weekend shows...

she graciously let me set my own shabby chic table up... so i could flip a few retro housewifey type items... how nice is that?

we had a super day together... and i look forward to pulling on my cowboy boots and turquoise and doing it all over again, in a few weeks! smile, wink, nod.

3 for me!

3 for me! yesterday, i picked up these hippy-styled tee's for me! found: right at the local goodwill store for $3.29 each. bonus: new without tags. i can't remember the last time i actually bought something "fun" for just me? smile, wink, nod.

now.... which one do i wear first?

on wednesday

fall flower bouquets on my windowsills. i just used odd clear jars. less is more, sometimes.

what is it about dropping stuff off at goodwill? i always have to take a minute and saunter through the store. pink tags were half off today. this skirt practically jumped into my cart. it even had a pink tag on it. making it just $1. i'm excited to wear it to church with cowboy boots! by the way, did i tell you that on church sunday.... the 5-pc. band played the beatles song, "when i'm 64?" when everyone entered. the congregation was just beaming and grooving. popular Christian songs followed of course.

tonight, i'll start this book. miss julia paints the town. it looks pretty quirky. and i'll welcome that, after my last read, light on snow by anita shreve... it was thought-provoking and heavy.

finding a few funky fall accessories:

i made a mad-dash through our local goodwill store this afternoon! i found this gypsy purse for $1.99. i can't hardly wait to use it! i keep looking and admiring it!

i also flipped these really-super-ultra soft men's long johns in my cart. they were $1.99, too. they're a beautiful ivory color! they'll be so comfy on a chilly michigan night!

the time has come for me to admit... i need reading glasses. as you know, i'm squeaky cheap... so, i picked up a pair at the dollar tree. ugh, yeah... just a dollar.

sweet find.

just found the sweetest cotton skirt at our local goodwill store. just $3. had homemade chicken tortellini soup and homemade beer bread with mixed herbs. excellent! it rained and rained all day. burnt a new cranberry spice candle-found it new at a garage sale. played a family card game with the boys: 7's. wrestled hard on the floor with tommie for about 10 minutes: it's good exercise and he loves it. canned 8 jars of homemade applesauce. pint-sized. picked up an industrial size dehydrator from rhonda... will make more zucchini chips tomorrow. hope i don't burn her motor up. meandered through wally world in my wellingtons and camo pants. i made a real fashion statement. bought lime juice and cherries. tell me about your day... did you do anything creative? smile, wink, nod.
